Manila and Caloocan water supply cut for 22 hrs

Water supply for some households in Manila and Caloocan City will have a 22-hour cut-off on Saturday to give way to repairs of busted pipes in the areas.

The water supply interruption will start March 29, from 1 a.m. to 11 p.m.

Maynilad Water Services Inc. (MWSI) in its advisory said the rehabilitation work will entail the insertion of two butterfly valves on existing 400-mm and 500-mm mainlines along Rizal Avenue extension near R. Papa Street in the boundary of Caloocan and Manila.

The rehabilitation of the water pipes will be simultaneous with repair work at the Tondo pumping station in Manila to improve the water supply in underserved areas of Manila and Caloocan.

The parts in Manila affected will be areas bounded by Rizal Avenue, Mayhaligue, E. Remigio, Quezon Boulevard, C.M. Recto, Estero dela Reina, and Dagupan Ext. (railroad), Aurora Boulevard and Blumentritt.

In Caloocan, the areas bounded by 5th Avenue, A. Bonifacio, C-3 Road, Chinese Cemetery, R. Papa (creek) and PNR railroad will be affected.

Meanwhile, the area bounded by Blumentritt, Antipolo, Aurora Boulevard and Dimasalang in Manila will experience low pressure to no water.

MWSI also advised affected customers to store water good for the duration of the water service interruption.

The rehabilitation is in line with mission of the Maynilad's new owners, DMCI and Metro Pacific, to upgrade the water system and improve service throughout the west zone.

Young singer Sarah Geronimo once again proved that she still reigns in the hearts of music enthusiasts as she bagged four awards at the 3rd MYX Music Awards held at Meralco Theater last Wednesday, March 26.

That evening was indeed one of Geronimo’s brightest nights as she named as the Favorite Artist, Favorite Female Artist, Favorite MYX Celebrity VJ and her song "Ikaw" won the Favorite Song award.

The awards night was a huge success with all the stars in attendance, the venue was also packed with fans and supporters of both music artists and celebrity presenters.

The audience enjoyed the night as bands and solo performers wowed the crowd with their astounding numbers of their own original and most popular hits.

But before the awards were given to the winners the night started out with cocktails and a red carpet moment for artists and members of entertainment media, dressed in their best take on fashionable rock star style.

The night and the crowd stayed alive with the special performances by Sandwich, Julianne, controversial couple singer-composer Ogie Alcasid and Asia’s Songbird Regine Velasquez, sexy singing group The Kitty Girls and Nancy Jane.

The presenters such as Pinoy Big Brother ex-housemate and endorser Jon Avila, actress Valerie Concepcion, actor Dingdong Dantes and ‘Racing Goddess’ Gaby de la Merced left the audience going wild.

Before the night ends everyone were ecstatic with the results of the prestigious music awards which was directed by Rowell Santiago.

But the most remarkable part of the night was when international artist, Filipinos’ gem Allan Pineda more popularly known as Apl De Ap of the popular hip hop group Black Eyed Peas presented one of the categories for the music awards and then afterward received a special citation for his unquestionable contribution to the music industry and to the country. Pineda arrived in Manila last March 25 just to attend the special event.
